Family Hospice Foundation’s purpose is to provide services to patient and
families not covered by Medicare, Medicaid, or private insurance. Family Hospice will never turn anyone away because of inability
to pay and your donations help us give our full, personalized care to families in need. Our organization was created to provide
the simple necessities that significantly improve our patients’ quality of life. Funds are directed to support and promote
three main areas:
1.
Even though hospice is a Medicare benefit and it is also covered by most private insurance programs,
occasionally patients who could benefit from hospice do not have insurance or qualify for Medicare. Family Hospice Foundation
provides funds that ensure the ability to provide hospice services to all people regardless to their ability to pay.
2. Complementary Therapy Program
is used to complement care by increasing relaxation, reducing stress and discomforts, and enhancing well-being. They include:
Massage and Comfort Touch, Therapeutic Touch, Reiki, Reflexology, Aromatherapy, Music Therapy, Art Therapy.
3. Provide non-medical patient
benefits. Past contributions include purchasing: heating oil during the winter for a mountain patient resident who could not
afford it, a special lift chair to facilitate bathing, installing grab bars and other apparatus in a patient’s home
to aid in mobility, and airplane ticket for the daughter/son who would want to care for their father/mother at the last moment.
These types of contributions greatly elevate a patient’s quality of life and allow them to remain comfortable
in their homes.
Our
services depend on the generosity of people who are able to contribute – any amount of support makes a difference. All
Foundation’s staffs are volunteers so all donations goes directly to the patient and patient’s family.
